Ένα New Deal για την Ευρώπη!

(José BovéSka KellerAlexis TsiprasGuy Verhofstadt have subscribed the manifesto and signed the ECI. Martin Schulz didn't sign it but he strongly supports the proposals of the initiative. The text of our European Citizens' Initiative:

Title: NEW DEAL 4 EUROPE - FOR A EUROPEAN SPECIAL PLAN FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND EMPLOYMENT

Subject-matter: A public investment plan to help Europe get out of the crisis through the development of knowledge society and the creation of new jobs especially for youth.

Main objectives:

• a EU special program of public investments for the production and financing of European public goods (renewable energy, research and innovation, infrastructural networks, ecological agriculture, protection of the environment and cultural heritage);

• a special European Solidarity Fund to create new jobs especially for young people;

• increasing the own resources of the European budget through a financial transactions tax and
a carbon tax.

The project of European unification has been very important for our countries. It brought peace and prosperity on an impoverished continent that had been ravaged by two world wars. However, today the European Union is no longer up the tasks which it has to tackle. A change is needed.

We are no longer willing to accept this kind of Europe which produces: ...
unemployment, temporary and under-remunerated job, cuts to the welfare state, growing poverty, economic and social decline, and destroys hope and expectations.

We call for a change in the EU policies, for social solidarity, sustainable development and participatory democracy.

We want the United States of Europe: not only a common market, but a truly common government with shared responsibilities and powers, able to speak "with a single voice" in the world.

We demand a big European New Deal to end the crisis

We are convinced that if we do not deal this challenge, we will all lose out. We ask all the European citizens to make an effort to meet this challenge, with a great pan-European people’s initiative.

This urgent and necessary initiative is the European Citizens’ Initiative called “New Deal 4 Europe – For a European special plan for sustainable development and employment", promoted by many European federalist movements, trade unions, civil society organizations, mayors of important European cities, and intellectuals.

Let us collect at least 1 million signatures in at least 7 European member states, to request that European Commission make a legislative proposal to implement the Plan, with the aim to end the current crisis, to change Europe, to give us hope again.

European citizens, let our voice be heard/speak up!
